Is my thyroid causing low libido?
The thyroid gland secretes hormones into your body; if these hormones are imbalanced it can cause low libido and sexual dysfunction, among other symptoms (see below). When the thyroid is low, it is called Hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism causes the body to slow down, which slows your metabolism and can cause Testosterone and Estrogen levels to plummet.
Imbalanced thyroid symptoms:
- Low libido
- Sexual dysfunction
- Chronic constipation
- Chronic aches and pains
- Chronic fatigue
- Brittle or dry skin
- Unhealthy weight gain
- Sensitivities to temperature change
- Excessive hair loss
- Weak, brittle nails
- Anxiety and depression
- Sluggish mental processing speed
- And more
